Accessibility
Our commitment
Adults in Motion exists for adults with developmental disabilities. Our website should be easy for them to use.
We have built this site to be usable by as many people as possible. We want to hear when we have not managed it.
What we have done
Plain language. We have written this site to be read easily. Short sentences. Ordinary words. We describe what things are instead of using jargon.
No time limits. Nothing on this site expires while you are using it. If you start an application and come back to it days later, it will still be there.
No puzzles or "prove you are human" tests. Those tests are a real barrier for many people, including people we serve. We do not use them anywhere.
Clear structure. Headings are used properly so that a screen reader can move through a page in order. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions.
Keyboard use. The site can be used without a mouse.
The standard we aim for
We are working towards WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This is the standard used by Ontario's accessibility law.
We do not claim to have met it in every way. We are testing and improving as we go, and we will be honest about where we are.
Ways we think we are still falling short
Our website has a lot of information, which can mean a lot of clicking to find what you need. We are still working on making information easier to find without leaving important resources out.
We want people with disabilities to use our site independently, and we know not everyone can yet. We would also like to add more pictures, visual instructions and videos to make information and steps easier to understand.
Our programs
This page is about the website. If you need information about how our programs and buildings accommodate people, please contact us and we will talk it through with you.
Tell us if something does not work
If you have trouble using any part of this site, please tell us. You do not need to know why it is not working or what it is called. Describing what happened is enough.
We will reply as quickly as we can. We will try to give you the information another way in the meantime.
Other formats
If you need something on this site in a different format, such as large print, plain text, read aloud, or another language, ask us and we will do our best to provide it.
