Amidst the bustling communities of southwestern Ontario, there exists a special place where individuals with developmental disabilities find connection and purpose – welcome to Adults in Motion.
Founded in 2009 by the compassionate and dedicated Rodd and Shelley Murphy, this day program has become a guiding light for those seeking connection, growth, and a place of belonging. Adults in Motion is more than just a program; it is a loving family where every individual is celebrated for their unique abilities and talents. From its humble beginnings in a small programming room inside a church, the program has blossomed and expanded its reach, spreading its wings across Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Hamilton, and Oakville. Through Rodd and Shelley’s unwavering dedication, and the support of their passionate team, the program has transformed countless lives, providing a space where participants can shine brightly and find purpose and meaning.
Two shining star within this vibrant constellation are Samantha and Matthew, whose journey epitomizes the spirit of Adults in Motion. With hearts full of creativity and passion for art, Samantha and Matthew have discovered a place where they can use the medium of art to express what they sometimes can’t verbalize. Through the supportive and nurturing environment provided by Adults in Motion, both have found the freedom to express themselves and pursue their artistic endeavors.
For Samantha and Matthew, Adults in Motion is more than just a program; it’s their second home, a place where they can flourish. Filled with gratitude and a desire to give back to the world around them, Samantha and Matthew have found a way to help support the program that means so much to them.
Samantha and Matthew’s passion for art has opened doors for them to share their creations and, along with many other participants, raise funds by launching an online Etsy store, as a way to sell their art and raise funds for their activities and the program they love so dearly.
Adults in Motion is an invitation to join a journey that celebrates the incredible strength, resilience, and talents of individuals with developmental disabilities. It is a place where barriers are shattered, dreams are nurtured, and lifelong friendships are forged. Here, every person is seen, heard, and valued.
As you explore the stories that unfold within Adults in Motion, you will witness the transformative power of love, support, and inclusion. Together, we can create a brighter future, where individuals of all abilities can shine their light and make a lasting impact.
